This week we’re sharing one of our recent interior design projects here in Calgary – a glamorous powder room!
Guests will notice the elegant feeling carried from the rest of the house into the room, but the busy family knows its alter ego is a hardworking powder room.
We used a porcelain tile on the floor and glammed it up with a metallic glaze. Laying it in a random pattern referenced the hardwoods throughout the house.
The vanity lends a modern, clean element to the room. We love the beautiful hammered chrome front and the functional open storage below.
This faucet is just gorgeous; its the cobalt jewel icing on the chrome cake.
The shimmery silver wallpaper showcases a bold colour and large scale pattern. In a nod to the resurgence of the matchy-matchy trend, we used coordinating window coverings.
Even the ceiling received star treatment. We covered it with a glamorous grass cloth with navy on metallic silver paper. We brought in a classic hicks pendant to reference the character of this century house. We dressed it with a ceiling medallion and crown moulding to harken back to the golden age of the home.
We were creative with the storage in this room. A previous renovation had left an awkward niche, but by adding custom millwork to it we made the perfect spot to hold last minute essentials. They’re easy to grab as the busy family is running out the door to school and activities.
Functional and elegant, this powder room beautifully meets the needs of the family and their guests.
