Master Suite Reno in Calgary: Young, Dreamy & Traditional
Today I’m sharing a master suite renovation we recently completed for a young, professional couple in Calgary.
As an active and style-conscious duo, their existing space felt awkward, out of proportion, and was completely dysfunctional for their lifestyle. They craved more storage space and an aesthetic that would speak to their “young fogey” (fresh traditional) sensibilities.

Needless to say, we were delighted to swoop in and save them from this design disaster!
DESIGN GOALS RECAP:
- Change up the floor plan to work for their active lifestyle
- Introduce more bathroom + closet storage space
- Add a larger, more luxurious shower and bath
- Create a relaxing, luxurious and young traditional aesthetic
AFTER: MASTER BEDROOM RETREAT
Traditional details, a soothing palette, and touches of modern style make this bedroom a luxurious master retreat.
We kept all existing windows and added painted millwork, new carpeting, and fresh yet traditional lighting. Waking up in this space is now a joy and a pleasure!
Stylish seating feels elegant but is perfectly practical. After all, who doesn’t need a place to put on their pumps?
AFTER: RELAXING & SPACIOUS MASTER BATHROOM
Quite a transformation from that before situation, right? The space now feels lighter, brighter, and much more open.
This space is also where our clients decided to splurge on long-lasting, luxury amenities: marble, millwork, and…
…a breathtaking standalone tub. And how beautiful are those modern traditional sconces? Classic elegance.
We maximised storage in every space we could find or make: the double vanity cabinetry, as well as a stunning floor-to-ceiling, built-in makeup station to the right.
Glass doors add style and depth, while cool tones and fresh lighting keep the space feeling youthful, open, and relaxing. Ahhhhh.
AFTER: DREAMY WALK-IN CLOSET
For the walk-in closet, we chose functional display drawers and let the stylish clothing speak for itself!
A large mirror transforms this walk-in closet into a stylish dressing room! Isn’t amazing what little details can do for a design?
Well, there you have it, a young, traditional, and luxurious master suite — and all done with a keen eye on budget. Which brings me to my next point…
Part of budgeting for a design project is knowing when and where to splurge, like we did in the master bathroom, and that’s something we help with… BUT I’ll have more tips for you on budgeting in our next post!
